Senator Howard Marklein

Howard Marklein was first elected to the State Assembly in 2010. While in the State Assembly, he served as the Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Ways & Means and the Vice-Chair of the Joint Audit Committee. 


Howard was elected to the State Senate in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022. In the State Senate, he currently serves as Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC), Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Tourism and is a member of the Joint Committee on Employment Relations, Joint Legislative Audit Committee and the Joint Legislative Council. 


Howard has been appointed to the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority Board of Directors, the State Fair Park Board and the Wisconsin Mississippi River Parkway Commission.


Continuing to represent the
NEW 17th Senate District

Howard Marklein represents the 17th Senate District in the Wisconsin State Senate. 

Wisconsin Act 94 changed Wisconsin's legislative maps for the 2024 election and the 2025-2026 legislative session, ongoing.  

The new 17th Senate District includes all of Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa and Lafayette Counties, as well as the southwest corner of Dane County.

Howard will continue to serve all of the communities in the former and new 17th Senate District throughout 2024 to ensure that all residents of our communities have the support and resources they need.
